SkateS2Scholars is an in-house scholarship program understanding the challenges of paying for college and we are dedicated to supporting players to reaching their full potential.

 

This year we have awarded 5 amazing student-athletes $6000 in scholarships!

 

Aidan Sutter – Aidan graduated from Pine Lake Preparatory School with a 3.73 GPA. He will be attending UNC Charlotte as a Mechanical Engineering major in the Lee College of Engineering. Aidan spent most of this time playing hockey at Extreme Ice playing for the Charlotte Jr Checkers, Charlotte Rush, and the Queen City Royals.

He also played a year for the Carolina Jr Hurricanes. One of Aidan’s coaches noted that Aidan was votedAssistant Captain by his teammates. “In this role he demonstrated his leadership abilities and work ethic. He finished the season #1 in total points and #1 in goals, leading by example on the ice with his gameplay. In the dressing room and on the bench, he was quick to boost morale when needed in tough situations, energizing the team for the task ahead.”

 

Adam McNeil – Adam graduated from Bradford Preparatory School with a 3.81 GPA in and will be attending West Virginia University in the fall. At West Virginia, Adam will pursue a Sports Management degree in the College of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. He began playing hockey at Extreme Ice with the Jr Checkers program in 2013 and has played with the Jr Checkers, Charlotte Rush, and Queen City Royals teams. Adam has also played in the high school league and been an Assistant Coach for the 14A Queen City Royals. Due to his strong leadership abilities and his focus on the team first, Adam was frequently named the team Captain.

 

Cameron Maresco – Cameron graduated from Piedmont High School with a 3.47 GPA and will be attending Cape Fear Community College. He has played for the Jr Checkers, Charlotte Rush, and Queen City Royals programs out of Extreme Ice since 2017. Cameron’s coach describes him this way: “Cam leads by example. He demonstrates his commitment on the ice at every practice and at every game. Without question he will determine what is needed to contribute to the team to make it successful and work with great tenacity to see that the job gets done.”

 

Abby Reisinger – Abby graduated from Piedmont High School and played hockey for the Jr. Checkers Metro League, Team Carolina, the Lady Carolina Eagles, and the Lady Jr. Hurricanes. This is her 4th year receiving a scholarship from SkateS2Scholars. Abby attends Alvernia University and was named Captain and was one of the first members of their DIll program. Abby’s accomplishments include Dean’s List, was named UCHC All- Academic Team, Academic All-MAC team, 2nd team All-MAC and the MAC Sportsmanship Award. She also played on the Varsity golf team and was named a Marketing and Management fellow for the O’pake Institute for Management and Entrepreneurship.

 

Luke Jensen – Luke graduated from West Cabarrus High School with a 3.33 GPA. He will be attending Lander University in Greenwood SC in the fall. Luke played hockey since 2014 with the Jr Checkers, Charlotte Rush, Pineville Falcons, and Triad Storm. One of Luke’s coaches describes him as “self-motivated and always works hard on and off the ice. He took the initiative to ask questions and get extra coaching to learn new skills that would make him a better player. Luke’s character is also very impressive. He acts with generosity, great friendship and kindness to his teammates and anyone around him. He is well respected by his teammates and coaches alike He was always a joy to have on my team.”
